31st August is Africa's Traditional Medicine Day
About 20 years ago, some countries in African regions marked the African Traditional Medicine Day on 31 advocating for strengthening the linkage between traditional medicine and institutionalized care. A lot of countries in Africa started to be aware of the importance of integrating our African herbs into our daily life as well as using traditional medicine based on earthy ingredients as a based form of healing from all kinds of diseases and sicknesses.
To all those who believe only in the international institutions for health resources, the world's health organization has approved the power of using African herbs and earthy medicine for healing and it promoted traditional African medicine as a primary health care solution for the world's health problem that was facing years and years ago.
On the other hand, you see our African people still falsifying and questioning traditional medicine and healing, they're even seeing it as an inferior option compared to the modern conventional medicine that is using drugs for recovery, that makes you depend on your life for it, what is even worst; some people are even demonizing it and relating it to harmful magic, which makes me very sad.
Eating/drinking/showering/wearing herbs is a core element for maintaining our health and keeping our connection with our roots and ancestors, planting our herbs and depending on them primarily in our daily lives is our true cultural identity not only as Africans but as human being coming from the soil.
so stop being afraid of the herbs that are your actually roots and go back to the soil, eat, drink and heal from the soil of the Earth, we have everything there already.
